“Movement can help a child get out of freeze states / anxiety / sensory overwhelm and calm the nervous system.” – Sonia and Lili Story

Can we talk about a glaring fact – that I repeat until I am sometimes bored of myself?

There are really only 3 broad “therapies” that support our kids with Down syndrome / Autism:

  1. Nutrition / Gut-Brain Health
  2. Full Communication / Equal Education
  3. Functional Movement

I am almost tempted to issue a challenge – if you can find a fourth that does not fall under these 3 umbrellas – let me know. No, I am serious!

This is why I was so excited to speak with Sonia and Lili Story about how they are combining Communication (S2C) and movement (Reflex Integration and Rhythmic Movement) in their practice – Move Play Thrive.

You can find this gem of a discussion in Episode 119 where Sonia and Lili talk about how:

  • Working on specific innate movements help students improve their stamina
  • Regulation is so strongly addressed by innate movements
  • We are literally growing, organizing and maturing the brain
  • Muscle tone can even be regulated
  • Movement therapy makes Communication easier

If you have been looking for ways to help your child communicate in an easier way, or if you are a pro at movements, but your child doesn’t have a reliable way to express themself, you are in the right place.

Check out the Magic of combining Movement with Communication in Episode 120 of my podcast Functional Nutrition and Learning for Kids.

This is where I give you some Homework! Once you have heard this podcast, write to me about what this shifted in you and your ideas about growth for your child. I am certain something shifted. I would love to hear from you.
